Partners and donors
Rai Matak is a joint collaboration between the Timor-Leste community and local and international civil society organisations.
Fundación Ho Musan Ida
A social enterprise based in rural Baguia, Timor-Leste. Since 2009 and with the support of xpand Foundation – an Australian social enterprise – it has implemented the largest internationally certified community-led forestry program in Timor-Leste.
The Ho Musan Ida (‘WithOneSeed’ in English) community forestry program goes beyond charity and aid, with over 5% of Baguia farmers now taking part and directly benefiting their community through environmental, social and economic impacts.
It is through Ho Musan Ida’s depth of experience, technical expertise and strong partnerships with local communities and all levels of government that the Rai Matak project is possible.

xpand Foundation has been working with Ho Musan Ida for over ten years and developed numerous successful social enterprises, including the carbon farming model. xpand Foundation’s role in the Rai Matak project is to provide access to and support for useful technology and systems, including the TreeO2 forestry management app. The foundation also manages the Gold Standard certification and provides advice and project leadership.

Our Funder
European Union (EU)
The Rai Matak project is funded by the EU, who recognises climate change as one of our major global challenges. As part of the EU and its Member States’ complete commitment to climate action, in 2007 the EU proposed a global alliance with developing countries most vulnerable to climate change. The Global Climate Change Alliance Plus (GCCA+) was consequently launched in 2008, with the Rai Matak project funded by GCCA+.
